Working From Home As An Affiliate Marketer

By: Lynda Mekalick

So you would like to work from home as an affiliate marketer. Perhaps you are a stay at home mum and wanting to supplement the household income. Or perhaps you are retired or have been made redundant but still feel the need to be earning some extra money.

Working from home as an affiliate marketer can be very rewarding and satisfying, particularly if you have a considerable amount of time to put into it each day.

Here are some tips to get you started - a practical guide, so to speak.

To get started in making money on the internet you will need to be absolutely focused, and totally committed in your efforts to achieve success and a good income.

You will need a quiet room to work in, e.g. an office or a spare bedroom that you can set up as your office. You will read about people who will tell you that they are working from home using their dining room table. Although that may be so in some cases, I would not recommend it. A separate room allows you to concentrate on your affiliate marketing business.

You will need a work plan. This is called organisation, in other words. It is so very easy to lose focus and to go off in too many different directions if you do not have a plan which you stick to in your affiliate marketing career. For example, your daily work plan could go something like this:-

1. Write and submit an article.
2. Set up blog.
3. Add content to your blog.
4. Visit and add comment to other relevant blogs.
5. Visit forums and add comment.
6. Write and submit another article.
7. Further your own education about affiliate
marketing and working from home.
8. Write and submit another article.
9. Organise an auto responder.
10. Send out targeted emails through your auto responder.
11. Write and submit another article.

Do you get the idea? Delegate a set amount of time each day for each task, based on the amount of hours you have available each day to commit to your affiliate marketing business. Each task is important, but some tasks are more important than others (that's why, in my example, writing articles takes up 4 time slots!).

Try to discourage your friends from popping in to see you during your designated working hours. Many of them will think that, since you're now working from home, they can just call in for a coffee and a chat any old time. Let them know what your work hours are, and that you welcome and value their visits and chats outside of those hours.

Educate your family. They, too, need to know that, in working from home, you need to be setting work time parameters which they will need to respect - except in emergencies, of course.

Keep your thoughts positive and remember to pat yourself on the back for each of the daily tasks that you complete.

Working from home in the world of affiliate marketing can lead to a great income if you consistently plan your work and then work your plan.
